DO YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO IN AN EMERGENCY!
What is more important than a human life? If you had the chance to save a life, would you? Especially if the life is that of a loved one?
CPR + AEDs save lives!
The CPR+AED Foundation, Inc. exists to empower citizens to save lives. Look around our site and find out how & why.
Consider this:
Something unexpected has occurred! You've called 9-1-1. Now you're waiting for emergency responders to arrive. It could take a while if traffic is heavy or a train is passing their path.
What needs to be done. CPR? Defibrillation? Bleeding control? Preventing further injury?
Don't wait... Do something!
It's simpler than you may think. Hands Only CPR can be learned in just a few minutes. The newest automated defibrillators tell you how to use them. The quicker both of these are used, the greater the chance of surviving a cardiac arrest. But both are needed. Experts say that the chances of survival can doubled or even tripled.
CPR rarely saves a life all by itself. It can keep a person alive until a defibrillator can be used. But an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) works best when CPR is given first, usually while a nearby AED is retrieved.
That is, if there is an AED nearby. And that is the challenge. Even though AEDs are more affordable than ever, they are not in enough places.
If a small fire breaks out & a fire extinguisher is not available or is not used, a little fire might quickly become a much bigger fire. Then all that firefighters can do is prevent it from spreading. Property & lives are often lost because of time delays & lack of action by bystanders. It's a sad reality, but often that can all be prevented with some preparation. AEDs are like fire extinguishers for sudden cardiac arrest.
