Our vision is not new, but it seems few people have yet to catch it. If we are serious about saving lives, we have to adopt the mindset that CPR & AEDs are inseparable. We cannot focus on just one or the other.
A person who needs CPR also needs an AED and vice versa. And just as fire extinguishers don't replace the fire department, but make them more effective, so too do CPR & AEDs improve the success of our paramedics. We have always known that CPR buys time so that defibrillation is effective. It's just that with public access AEDs, defibrillation is now possible so much earlier than before.
The CPR+AED Foundation, Inc. a Florida non-profit corporation, is dedicated to placing AEDs wherever CPR might be needed & to popularizing the newest, simplest CPR technique--Hands Only CPR.
Why Hands Only CPR?
• First, more people will do it.
• Second, it is simple & easy to learn.
• Third, research science has shown that it is more effective at saving lives, especially when an AED is nearby.
So here we are, back to the need for an AED. These devices are more affordable than ever & we simply need to tell our story.
